Firm on track for future, By The Evening Chronicle

A pioneering Tyneside firm is heading for a £3m turnover in its first year as orders for its hi-tech tracking system continue to mushroom.

North Tyneside-based GlobalPoint Technologies produces the world's smallest wireless satellite tracking device.

The equipment, which is manufactured at TT Electronics in Blyth, works by sending information about location and other details via SMS text messages and over the internet. The tracker's latest application in the personal security market is helping to keep streets on two Sunderland estates safe.

Home Housing Association, which manages 1,400 homes in Plains Farm and Hylton Lane in the city, has bought a batch of trackers to be used by its neighbourhood wardens, who patrol the streets keeping an eye on anti-social behaviour and nuisance activities.
